Blue Bear: Seletti x InBetweeners

Blue Bear: Seletti x InBetweeners

The visionary spirit of Seletti, the Italian brand loved worldwide for its figurative design and its ironic, unconventional reinterpretation of reality, announces a new collaboration with artist and designer Gianpiero D’Alessandro: Blue Bear.

With D’Alessandro, Seletti returns to a theme central to its design philosophy: memory as an act of personal and collective recollection. Transforming his iconic NFT teddy bear into a three-dimensional object and creating a limited production of 1,777 pieces, D’Alessandro reimagines the archetypal form of memory—the teddy bear—evoking that childhood friend everyone once had. It’s an invitation to look back on moments when imagination and play were at the heart of life.

“When I was little, I loved hugging my teddy bear to feel safe and happy. With this project, I want people to feel less alone,” shares D’Alessandro. “I like offering comfort through images that bring me joy. Everyone deserves to be loved, and this is my way of helping the entire community.”

Like the originals Too Much Sauce and Love Hurts You, Blue Bear originated from D’Alessandro’s early explorations in NFTs, blending digital art with a positive message of inclusivity and love.

D’Alessandro has reached a global audience through collaborations with major international brands. His creation of InBetweeners in 2022, one of the most significant NFT projects developed alongside Justin Bieber, brought him great acclaim in the metaverse world. The InBetweeners NFT collection features 1,777 digitally generated bears, each boasting over 150 unique traits.

The idea to transform the iconic NFT teddy bear into a small resin sculpture stems from the desire to tangibly capture the carefree essence of a childhood memory—whether it’s a hug or the companionship of a trusted friend. Adding another layer of storytelling, the cage-inspired packaging symbolizes the Blue Bears escaping from the factory where they were created. Now claiming their identity as art toys, they scatter across cities, seeking someone to offer their protection and love.
