SELETTI presents: Too Much Sauce by Gianpiero

Gianpiero D’Alessandro shares: "Too Much Sauce is a piece I take around the world like a trophy. With just a few ingredients — like those in a Margherita pizza — you can create something extraordinary. There’s nothing more Pop, more democratic, more global than a Margherita pizza... and a lot of tomato sauce!".

This homage to pizza will be unveiled at a special event in Gianpiero's hometown, Naples, at the historic pizzeria of Gino Sorbillo, one of the undisputed masters of pizza-making worldwide. The choice of Naples and Sorbillo is no coincidence: like pizza itself, the event is meant to be hyper-democratic, open to everyone, and celebratory of what is popular and shared, just like Seletti’s design. The presentation will take place in a convivial atmosphere where art and cuisine come together in a perfect fusion of culture and tradition.

We are thrilled to present Too Much Sauce in Naples, a special tribute that Gianpiero D’Alessandro dedicates to his hometown,” says Stefano Seletti, art director of Seletti. “This project, so fun and ironic, speaks directly to everyone’s heart because the Margherita pizza is not only a symbol of Naples and Italy but also the ultimate comfort food, capable of evoking genuine memories and moments of togetherness. In this case, design becomes the means through which we connect with our deepest emotions and most authentic memories.

The launch of Too Much Sauce once again highlights Seletti’s approach, rooted in popular culture, to create pieces that evoke universal memories and feelings. Seletti's innovation lies in its ability to blend seemingly distant worlds, like pizza and contemporary art, making deep concepts accessible through an immediate, fun, and creative language.
